Everett W. “Buzz” Dulaney, age 86, of Kansas City, MO passed away December 20, 2022 at Seasons Memory Care. Services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
Buzz was born May 18, 1936 in Bosworth, MO. He graduated from Bosworth High School in 1954 and worked various jobs in Bosworth and Kansas City. On February 9, 1957, he married Joan Gates in Mendon, MO. In December 1958, he was drafted into the United States Army. He and Joan enjoyed their time and adventures while stationed in Germany. They returned to Kansas City in 1961 and Buzz went to work for Long Bell Lumber Co. He started homebuilding and developing residential homes and subdivisions in 1974 after forming Dulaney Construction Co. In his passion for this work, he was a member of the Kansas City Home Builders Association and was President in 1987 and 1988, an unusual 2 year run, and entered the Builder’s Hall of Fame in 2000. He was also President of the Raytown Jaycee’s from 1969-1970 and a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Buzz was always taking care of business and helping others, and really loved the memories created during the familys’ travels, at their lake home at The Ozarks, ski trips to CO, and watching his grandkids grow up. He was preceded in death by his father Everett Clifton Dulaney, his mother Wilburta Dulaney and brother Fred Allen Dulaney. Survivors include his wife of the home, Joan Dulaney; son, Bradley Wayne Dulaney, and a daughter, Angela Swift (husband Mike). Four grandchildren; Bradley Aaron Dulaney (wife Katy), Holly Dulaney, Nicholas Dykstal and Jonathan Dykstal. Four great-grandchildren; Brooks Alan, Millie Kate, Reid Aaron Dulaney, and Athena Simmermon.
