Elston E. “Gene’ Parker, 84, of Independence, MO passed away Nov. 26, 2013. Funeral service 11am Saturday, Nov. 30th at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Interment following service in Green Lawn Cemetery. Gene was born April 19, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to Edward & Cora (Davis) Parker. He was a member & chairman of the Board of Deacons at Bethel Baptist Church. Gene was a Boy Scout and due to the war efforts of WWII became the Troop Leader at a young age. He retired after 61 years as the Plant Manager of JESCO Resources in N. Kansas City, MO. Gene’s family always came first as he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He was an animal lover raising everything from guinea pigs, birds to hogs. Gene was an avid flower gardener; with a fondness for hostas and ferns. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy of the home; sons, David (Sharon) & Terry (Deborah); daughter, Carolyn Parker Downham (William); 7 grandchildren, Brian, Shannon, Michael, Chris, Greg, Ryan & Sean and four great grandchildren, Caleb Eugene, Jordan, Sarah & Brooke.
