Dee attended Arator Elementary School and Smithton High School near Sedalia, MO. After high school, Dee moved to Kansas City and attended Avila College. She started as a junior stenographer at the Department of Health and Human Services in 1944 and retired from the Social Security Administration in 1984 after 40 years.
Dee married J. Robert Fowler on Sept. 18, 1948 in St. Patrick Church in Sedalia, MO. Bob passed away April 24, 1984. Dee married Clifford Rosenberger on Sept. 28, 1991 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Kansas City. Cliff passed away March 17, 2005.
Throughout her life Dee gathered family and friends at her home for holiday meals and fun. She was hospitality personified and had a great sense of humor. Dee’s life was spent caring for others. She was a faithful volunteer at Seton Hall for many years, served as president of her sorority, the Kappa Chapter of Phi Tau Omega (PTO) Sorority, and was an organist and very active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
For many years Dee was a member of the German Shepherd Club and led training classes. Dee was also proud to be Irish and was a member of the Kansas City Hibernians. She held local and national offices and was the 1996 Irish Woman of the Year in Kansas City. Dee and her sister, Jo, visited Ireland in 1985.
Dee is survived by one sister, Patricia Kane of Waterford, MI; many nieces & nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews, and by Larry Rosenberger, Cliff’s son. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, sisters Mary Margaret Weber, Josephine Hudson, and Catherine Imogene Murphy, and brothers John Youngkamp and Fr. Vincent Youngkamp.
The family would like to thank the staff of Care Haven Homes. Dee lived at the Sunflower House and the Wycklow House for over 6 years, and she was kept safe and well cared for.
Visitation will be held on October 4 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO.
