Donna was born on February 22, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to Maude and Jess Green. She attended Gladstone Elementary and graduated from Northeast High School in 1947. She married Hamilton Y. Smith on July 29, 1949 and they were married for 65 years.
Donna was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother throughout her life. Though she did not work outside of the home, she worked very hard raising her four children. She was very involved in all her children's passions and activities, often volunteering at school and Scouting events. Once she raised her children, she joined the Alpha Mu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, where she was a devoted volunteer for 32 years and held the titles of President and Secretary. She was also proud to be the Booth Chairman for the Children's Cardiac Auxiliary. She was a big animal lover, feeding and rescuing many feral cats over the years. She also had a green thumb and loved plants and gardening. She enjoyed traveling and visited several US states throughout her life. Her hobbies included dancing, word search puzzles, cooking and baking--she was most known for her holiday black walnut pumpkin bread.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Hamilton Y. Smith, parents Maude and Jess Green, sister Janice Green, brothers Virgil and Kenneth Scott, and great-grandson Mykal Lewis.
Donna is survived by her children Barbara Wilson, Kevin Smith, Paula Smith-Moreno, and Alan Smith, grandchildren Temika McRae, Brett and Eric Moreno, and great-grandchildren Kaiyre, Kennedy, and Cameron Lewis.
Memorial contributions may be made in Donna's name to Children's Mercy Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Wayside Waifs.
