Dennis Wayne Simmons, age 53, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at home from suicide. There will be a Celebration of Life Visitation from 10am-12pm, Monday, July 26, 2021 at DW Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Greater KC, www.afsp.org.
Dennis was born January 15, 1968 in Kansas City, MO. He was active in Boy Scouts of America as a child and as an adult with his own children. He was employed for 28 years at DST Systems as a Client Relationships Manager and most recently as a pharmacy tech for Costco. He was married to Kimberly Malcolm from 1993-1999. They had one child, a son named Chris. He married Terri Woolery in 2002, where he welcomed his step son, Collin and Terri and him would later welcome their daughter, Denni.
Dennis was active in the Independent Order of Foresters, the Scottish Rite and the Masonic Lodge. He loved nature, being outside and working in the yard, which is much nicer than a golf course. He loved to teach and mentor and especially loved his friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest C. Simmons and Alberta A. Kuchinski; ex-wife Kimberly Simmons and father-in-law Ronald Woolery. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Terri; son Christopher Simmons; step-son Collin Stallman; daughter Denni Simmons; granddaughter Penelope Stallman; sister Rebecca Johnson; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
