Dana L. Peterson, 42, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20th from 6-8 PM at McGilley & Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St., KCMO. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 AM at the Chapel. Burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Dana was born June 27, 1972 to David & Marcia Peterson. She was formerly a correctional officer at the Cameron Correctional Facility & then the St. Joseph Correctional Facility. For the past 5 years she served as a Federal Security Contractor for VENDTECH-SGI and worked at the “Space Center” in Independence. She was a member of SPFPA Local #249 & was currently their Treasurer.
Dana was preceded in death by her father David in 1991; grandparents; & uncle, Pat McCoart. She is survived by her mother, Marcia Peterson, partner Henry Robinson; 3 sisters, Rhonda McElwee, Wendie Peterson & Jill Peterson; uncle, Mike McCoart (Dianne) & several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Dana was always there for her family & constantly had a camera in her hand taking pictures of everything. She was an overall good-hearted person and fun to be around.
Dana was an organ donor & upon her death, donations were used to save 2 lives. Memorial donations may be made to Midwest Organ Transplant or American Heart Association.
