She mastered the organ by reading and playing by ear. Once graduated from Woodland High School, she attended Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Georgia.
D was a life-long learner obtaining many academic and professional honors. She led a life that spanned several career endeavors. One of her greatest accomplishments was her role as a Funeral Director, where she helped many families over the years lay their loved ones to rest. D’s leadership within the community is exemplified by her membership in Divine Women of Adah #32 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as the Chaplain. She continued to serve the community as a Bus Operator of Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.
D was an avid reader and a conversation connoisseur. She was never short on “I Love You” and gave the deepest, most sincere hugs. D never met a stranger that did not quickly became family. She traveled many places in her lifetime, including Belize, Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos just to name a few. Although this is the end of her passport stamps, she will continue to travel with her family and friends as they spread her ashes and love all over the world.
A visitation for D will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM also at Floral Hills Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to her family to help care for her two dogs.
