Cynthia “Cindy” Kay Coffer Smith passed away at home November 29, 2023 after a long battle with heart disease. Cindy was born July 2, 1955 to Robert and Delores Coffer in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the middle child of three children. She learned to be an empathetic and compassionate caregiver by helping with the care of her younger sister, Sandy, who died at the very young age of 6 years old from complications of a congenital heart defect. She experienced more devastating loss when her older and charming brother, Jim Bob, passed away in a boating accident at the age of 21.
In 1973, Cindy graduated from Raytown South High School in Raytown, Missouri. She immediately began her career as an administrative assistant with Rival Trucking. At Rival, she soon met her future husband, Kenneth Michael Smith. Mike and Cindy began their 42 years of marriage on October 4, 1975. Even though their union ended in 2017, they always modeled loyalty and a strong Christian faith to their three children, Heather, Tiffany and Erin.
Cindy was a caring and loving mother to her girls. She raised her children to follow Christ, be empathetic and caring to others, and to be loyal to their family and friends. She volunteered countless hours in their schools and church. She shared her passion of cooking, baking, sewing, quilting and anything crafty. Cindy was elated to have been blessed with four granddaughters, Acacia, Brooke, Reese and Quinn. Cindy’s daughters and granddaughters were her entire world.
Cindy was a woman of deep faith, and her trust in God brought her peace. She was a devoted member of the Baptist church where she volunteered in the sound booth, children’s nursery and worshiped in the Bell Choir at King Hill Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. She also worked for many years as the administrative assistant to the youth minister at First Baptist Church in Grapevine, Texas.
Cindy was an avid quilter and was fiercely loyal. She would give the shirt off her back even if it were her last. Her love, compassion, empathy and faith will carry on for generations to come. She will be forever missed.
Cindy is survived by her three daughters Heather Morgan (Daniel), Tiffany Foland (Chuck) and Erin Bereuter. Her four granddaughters Acacia Morgan (16), Brooke Bereuter (16), Reese Bereuter (12) and Quinn Foland (5). She is also survived by her loving partner, Mike Enright, who made her incredibly happy and loved her the last two years of life. Along with many other extended family members and loving friends.
She is preceded in death by her sister Sandra Jean Coffer, brother James Robert Coffer, parents Robert and Delores Coffer, and her parents in-law Fred and Jean Smith.
