Conrad “Pete” Campbell, 80, passed away Oct. 19, 2014 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm with Rosary at 6:30 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 8812 E. Gregory, Raytown, MO 64133. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Oct. 23 at 10 AM at the church.
Pete was born Feb. 2, 1934 in Fall River, MA. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, enlisting right after high school & attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was married to Margaret Botelho for 56 years & through this union 5 children were born. After military service, he attended & graduated from Rockhurst College with a degree in Business. While attending college he was employed at Western Electric & continued that employment after graduation. He ultimately retired after 35 plus years of service. After retirement, he worked for the I.R.S. for 6 more years & retired again.
Pete was a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #4962 & also held other various offices. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church & active in their church activities & organizations. He was a member of the local Home Owner’s Association, the American Legion & WECO SAGE Alumni. He loved to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting activities.
Over the years, Pete’s hobbies included golf, bowling, soft ball & traveling, but he was happiest at home. Holidays & birthdays were a time family got together and were always special. He was a kind, generous, gentle man. Heaven has one more beautiful soul today.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, George Alphonse & Lillian (Caron) Campbell; siblings Gerry Campbell & Leon Campbell; sisters-in-law Lorraine Campbell, Rose Campbell, Joan Campbell & Elaine Campbell; brother-in-law Jay Buffington & son-in-law David Corbin. Survivors include Margaret, his wife of 56 years; 5 children – Claudia Corbin, Valerie Stephens (Kenneth), David Campbell (Sonja), Elaine Machuca (Jose), & Steven Campbell (Mariah); 9 grandchildren – Travis Corbin (Virginia), Kolette Sisk (Jake), Kourtney Moore (Spencer), Madeline Campbell, Jacob Campbell, Raef Campbell, Libby Campbell, Jose Machuca Jr. & Daniel Machuca; 3 great-grandchildren – Aurelia Corbin, Garrett Moore & Jewel Moore; siblings – Robert Campbell (Terry), Maurice Campbell, Georgette Buffington & Vincent Campbell; & brother-in-law David Botelho (Julie).
