Christine Theresa Smith Gannon, 62, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House from brain cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 1st, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7009 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the Mass.
Christine was born October 16, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was married to James Gannon, Jr., and had two children and two grandchildren. She worked for twelve years at James Walker Elementary in the school cafeteria. Christine went to cosmetology school in the 1960’s and was a hairdresser for many years. She was very artistic, creative, loved to paint Indians, and do crafts with her children and grandchildren.
Christine was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mabel Brown; father, Ralph Cooley Smith; mother, Frances Mary (Shout) Smith. She is survived by her husband, James Gannon, Jr; children; Jeana Wise and Julie Gannon and her husband Terry; grandchildren; Destiny and Quinton; siblings; Ron (Kathy) Smith, Larry (Debbie) Smith, Paul (LouAnn) Smith, Georgette (Steve) Shirk, and Beth (Jim) Albert.
