Cheryl Lynn Twigg, 64, of Raymore, Missouri went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2023 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She has been surrounded by her family and friends during this challenging time. She passed away with her loving family by her side.
Cheryl was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Raised by her parents Barbara (Bittner) McCrary and Marion “Duke” McCrary who she now joins in heaven. She is survived by one sister Deborah Kahl of Clovis, California.
Cheryl married Gary Twigg in April of 1983 and had three sons who were her world. Bradlee Twigg and wife Stephanie with son Jameson and baby girl on the way; Brett Twigg with son Brett Jr.; Bryce Twigg and wife Katie with sons Brody and Blayze. She leaves behind her special “fur babies”, who she loved dearly.
Cheryl successfully completed her nursing degree at Research Medical Center in 1981. She later went on to complete her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at UMKC in 1991. As a registered nurse, Cheryl was a hard working and a compassionate caregiver for 40 years. She was a trailblazer and survivor of breast cancer for 22 years all while continuing to raise a family and caring for others. She loved doing crafts, quilting, and baking.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, meemaw, Christian, as well as a faithful friend. It is her wish that your memories of her will give you comfort during this time.
A Visitation for Cheryl will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:00 PM with a Catered Reception following from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Cheryl's name to the Ararat Shrine Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64129.
