Charles Aloysius Koehler Jr., 89, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at Villa Ventura in Kansas City, Missouri. Charles was born on December 14th, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Dr. Charles A. Koehler and Mary Gertrude (Cleary) Koehler.
He proudly served our country in the Navy in WWII. Charlie as he preferred to be called was an award-winning home builder whose career spanned over 50 years.
As a lifelong Kansas City resident, Charlie had many friends and a wealth of stories. He had a big heart and a strong work ethic. We will always remember his funny sayings and quips about life.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia Hensler, Martha Sterner; and brother, Thomas Koehler. Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Kathy of 26 years, his sister, Mary Riggs and his children, Chuck (Fran), Tom (Martha), Brian (Kim), Kevin, Karen Tumberger(Gary), Chris, and Tim Koehler, Heather and Jon Bortnick and Robb and Amber Heineman; his grandchildren, Michael, Anna, Meghan Koch (Kyle), Sara and Erin Koehler, David, Christina, Nicole, Justin, Ryan and Steven Koehler, Chris, Samantha, Reagan, and Olivia Tumberger and Katelyn Bossolono (Tim); Elinor and Joe Bortnick and Katherine and Charlie Heineman; and one great-grandchild, Jordyn Koch.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, KCMO with Mausoleum following in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
