Charlene “JoAnn” Martin, 95, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022. She was born November 21, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to Charles Ralph and Mary Agnes (McDermott) Weldon. On Christmas Eve 1944, she married Gerald Lee Martin, Sr. who passed away in 1979.
She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan and enjoyed reading, quilting and her IPad games. She also loved helping with Bingo, showing off her dancing, watching games and spending time with her many friends at the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post #21.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her son, Gerald Martin, Jr. and his wife Janet (Chambers), her siblings and their spouses, Mary Juanita Cauveren (William), James Weldon (Geraldine), and Frank Weldon (Mary), grandchildren Michael Dean Martin and Megan Christine Tynan and her longtime companion, Raymond “Max” Henderson.
She is survived by her son, David Martin (Donna) and daughters, Charlene Stine (Leroy) and Patti Williams (Mark). She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren, with another on the way.
Private graveside services will be held at Newcomer’s Floral Hills, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO on Thursday, January 5, 2022.
