Cecilia Ann Tebeck, 58, of Hanover Park, Illinois, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on January 7, 2024. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, between 8:30 am and 10:30 am, followed by a Catholic Mass and service at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Avenida Cesar E Chavez, Kansas City, MO 64108, with burial at Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery on Troost Ave, and reception back at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine.
Cecilia grew up on the Kansas City Westside, attended Our Lady of Guadalupe School, and graduated from Bishop Hogan High School. She was a dedicated Bishop Hogan Ram Varsity Basketball and Football fan, attending most games. Cecilia was popular in school, a friend to everyone, and stood out for her distinctive style and fashion sense. She was a great writer with creative flair.
She took classes at Penn Valley Community College and went on to pursue a career in insurance and investments. She worked as an Administrative Clerk at BMA Insurance Company and later became a Registered Agent at American Century Investments. There, she earned her Series 6 and Series 63 Security Licenses and was promoted to a leadership role, coaching and advising other Registered Agents. Years on, she was a loving homemaker and worked at H&R Block as a Tax Specialist during tax season.
Cecilia had a zest for life and adventure. Whether she was riding through the neighborhood on her skateboard, learning about cars from her Dad, or owning the dance floor at Pogo’s and other local dance clubs, her presence and smile radiated. She loved dressing up and dancing, winning 2nd place at a local dance competition. Music was a big part of Cecilia’s life. She loved all genres, particularly New Wave and Classic R&B, regularly attending concerts throughout her life. She became a local celebrity after appearing on MTV in rock band Warrant’s “Heaven” music video. Cecilia loved cooking a wide variety of dishes for her husband and daughters and was a natural chef in the kitchen. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening in her yard, including flowers and fresh ingredients for her recipes. She loved dogs, especially her grand-dog, Jackson Elliott. She loved her years spent living in Chicagoland, including visiting Navy Pier and attending annual events like the Taste of Chicago, Chicago Auto Show, Christkindlmarket, and Chicago Cubs games. She was an avid Chicago and Kansas City sports fan, loved making holidays special, particularly Christmastime, and enjoyed all things cozy.
Cecilia was a loving wife, mother of three daughters, sister, daughter, cousin, dear friend, and grandma to sweet Labrador Retriever, Jackson Elliott.
The family greatly appreciates the team of doctors, nurses and staff at The University of Kansas Hospital Cambridge Tower A, Thrive of Lisle, Central DuPage Hospital, Duly Health & Care, Good Samaritan Hospital, Ignite Medical Resorts Rainbow Boulevard and Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.
Cecilia was the devoted wife of 33 years to the late Scott Michel Tebeck; loving mother of Nastasia Elise Tebeck, Alexandra Raquel Tebeck, and Cassandra Renee Tebeck; cherished daughter of Leopold and Josephine Arzola; dear sister of Catherine Estrada (Ramon) and Rita Arzola; fond aunt of Michael Estrada (Natasha), Gina Trujillo (Ricky), Tony Estrada, Valentino Peña, Joe Wheeler (Olivia), Mike Wheeler (Erin), great-nieces, Annabelle Estrada, Lucy Trujillo, Stella Wheeler, Hannah Wheeler and great-nephews, Jacob Estrada, Sebastian Wheeler, and Noah Wheeler. Beloved daughter-in-law of Frank and the late Velia Tebeck; caring sister-in-law of Michelle Peña (Victor) and Eric Tebeck.
