Carleta F. Smith

Carleta was born on February 13, 1932 in Atlanta, MO to George and Gertrude Cosby. After moving to Kansas City, MO, she began working as a grocery checker. Carleta had five children. She loved to square dance and was quite accomplished at it. She was also Past Nobel Grand and Rebekah Assembly Degree of Rebekah Assembly, I.O.O.F. of Missouri Lodge #677 from Golden Link.

Carleta is preceded in death by 2 sons, Danny and David Tate; daughter, Becky Vandenberg Tate; brother, Raymond Cosby.

Carleta is survived by; brother, Don Cosby; sister in law, Donna Cosby; son, Terry Tate and his wife Debbie Tate; daughter Kathy Tate; grandchildren, Steve Tate, John Tate, Angella Hertzel, Autum Tate, Corissa Tate, and Ciara Tate; great grandchildren, Zander, Kamyrn, Landyn and Carter Hertzel, Kincaid Tate, and Alyssa Brown.

The family would like to thank Northland Rehabilitation and Care Center Facility, their great nurses, wonderful CNA’s, the best activity staff and all their employees. They would also like to thank the care team with Ascend Hospice. Carleta loved being there with all of you.

A graveside service for Carleta will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, 202 Emminga Rd, Golden, IL 62339.
