He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, daughters, Lauren and Lindsey, step-children Jessica Easley and Matthew Gilotti, sisters Brenda Bolanos-Ivory and Melissa England, father Colonel Allen Edward Mehnert II, stepmom Nita Mehnert, mother-in-law Pam Carpenter, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close family friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon McIntosh.
Brian was born at Scott AFB, Illinois on October 19, 1966 to parents Allen Edward Mehnert II and Sharon Elizabeth Williamson. He lived his childhood as an Air Force brat in Illinois, Ohio, Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, Vicenza and Aviano Italy and Germany where he graduated from Kaiserslautern High School. He studied business at Johnson County Community College.
Brian served in the US Army in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After the military, Brian worked as an offshore oil platform worker, train conductor for BNSF, and a Recruiter before establishing a successful career as a senior mortgage consultant.
His colleagues described him as a hard worker with a magic touch in helping military veterans buy and refinance their homes. He was beloved and trusted by his clients as many kept in touch with him and referred their family and friends.
He was always there when anyone needed him for love and support. He was a great cook, made the best chocolate chip cookies and coffee ever, and was an active involved father. He mentored his nephew, Brandon, guiding him from living in his car to being a top salesman just like him. He believed in people and brought out the best in them.
Brian would say that he lived his dream life for the past 17 years with his wife Jennifer and daughters Lauren and Lindsey, his beloved dog Belle, and their large extended close-knit family in the Kansas City area. They traveled often, making priceless memories in Alaska, Cancun, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Hawaii and visiting family in California, Florida and Texas.
Brian was always proudly sharing what his children were doing. Lauren is an honor student in a program for future law enforcement, and is a cheerleader, swimmer, and student council member at Olathe West High School. Lindsey is an honor student at Olathe North High School in a program for future doctors and nurses, and an actress, dancer and the reigning Junior Miss Kansas Job’s Daughter.
Brian's 52nd birthday was celebrated at the Olathe Health Hospice House by more than 60 loved ones who honored his birthday and his life. He made a huge positive difference in so many people's lives, quietly and humbly. Many of his daughter’s close friends considered him as a second father.
In his last few months, Brian’s love and belief in Christ grew through his participation and connections at Christ Community Church in Olathe, Kansas. One of his last wishes was for family and friends who wished to honor his memory to make a donation to his church family at Christ Community. Donations may be made online at http://christcommunitykc.org/give/ or mailed to 20600 W 119th Street, Olathe, KS 66061.
