Brandon L. McGinnie, 22, of Kansas City, Mo died Sunday, September 30, 2012 suddenly at his home. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Jamison Memorial Temple, Linwood and Benton Blvds.
Brandon was born February 24, 1990 in Kansas City, MO to Percy McGinnie and Terri Lynn Freeman (Dozier). He graduated from Park Hill High School May, 2008 where he played football and ran track. He was scheduled to begin studies at Park University in January 2013 and was very excited about his future. He was an avid MU fan and music lover. Brandon had a great heart for children and loved his family. Brandon was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ella Freeman, paternal grandfather, Percy M. McGinnie, Sr., and uncle Michael McGinnie. Brandon’s survivors include his parents, Percy McGinnie, Jr., mother Terri Freeman (Dozier); brother Christian Bruce; sisters Anissa McGinnie and Jamela May McGinnie; paternal grandmother Eula Mae Hill; uncles Tracy Freeman, Martin McGinnie, Douglas McGinnie, Corey McGinnie, Dirk McGinnie and Robert Boggess; aunts Diana Freeman-Clay, Sheila Freeman, Sharon Reed, Linda McGinnie, Annette McGinnie, Joy McGinnie, Diana McGinnie and Marian Hicks. Brandon is also survived by many cousins, friends and his beloved dog Calico. Remembering Brandon, Christian Bruce expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his big brother with a quote from an Irish headstone; “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
