Betty Marie Marcy

Betty Marie Marcy, 90, of Kansas City, passed away at home on May 9, 2014. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, the service will be held at 11:00 AM at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO, with interment following at Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Betty was born December 5, 1923. She was married to Fred Marcy for 72 years. She loved animals and always had horses and dogs. She was an expert equestrian, and loved riding in the Colorado Mountains. She was an avid gardener, and grew many award-winning daylilies. She was very active in the Hemerocallis Society of Kansas City, including serving as president of the society; she also served as a judge for flower shows. Fred and Betty founded and owned a successful business for 40 years.

Betty is survived by her husband, Fred D. Marcy, her son, Gary Marcy and his wife Emilie, her daughter, Sherry Marcy, her granddaughter Shannon Moon and her husband, Daren, her grandson, Sean Marcy of La Honda, CA, three great-grandchildren, Seth Thomas, Kylie Moon, and Taylor Moon, two step grandchildren Renee Skinner, Allen Skinner, and his wife Kim, four step great-grandchildren, Danielle Skinner, Violette Skinner, Chandler Skinner, and Kade Skinner, two step great-great-grandchildren, and her nephews Steve Taylor and his wife Jane, Peter Taylor and his wife Kathy of Tulsa, OK. Her brother, Charles Taylor, preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed.
