Betty Louise Grimes, 93, passed away on July 24, 2017 in Bigfork, MT. Betty was born December 29, 1923, in Kansas City, KS to Frank B. and Anna M. Grimes. Betty lived her adult life in Overland Park, KS, where she graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1941 and from The College of Commerce in 1942. She was employed by Canadian National Grand Trunk Railway for 43 years, retiring in 1985 as Chief Clerk. Betty’s real love was ballet. She studied and taught ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatic at Myldred Lyons Studio of the Dance. Betty was an original “Lyonette” and assistant to Miss Lyons for many years. She later taught dance at Sylvester Powell Community Center. Betty was an active member of Bristol Hill United Methodist Church and a regular volunteer at Baptist Lutheran Medical Center.
Betty was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother Frank B. Grimes, Jr., and nephew-in-law Daniel Reichardt. She is survived by nieces Peggy Reichardt of Kalispell, MT, Pamela Sessions (Glenn Hughes) of West Bountiful, UT, Debra Campbell of North Salt Lake, UT, nephew Frank J. Grimes (Debbie) of Pinedale, WY, and many great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is best friend Betty Tillotson of Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be from12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by Memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO.
