Bernice was born November 7, 1934 in Brookfield, MO to Vernie and Gracie (Warrington) Foster. After graduating from high school, Bernice went to cosmetology school and became a hair stylist. She eventually owned her own beauty shop. In 1954, Bernice married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Thorne. They made a comfortable and happy life in Raytown, MO, living on a picturesque lake property. There they raised their two children, Michael and Melody. In 1973, Bernice and son, Michael, started an asphalt business, Thorne and Son Asphalt Paving, and she closed up her beauty shop to focus on that. She worked hard for all that she had. Besides work, Bernice enjoyed cooking large family meals and having everyone join her at the table, gardening in her large yard, and playing the slots at the casinos. Bernice was a beloved mom, grandma, and granny. She will be greatly missed!
