Barbara B. Cooke 93, of Kansas City, MO. passed away on January 28, 2016. She was born on September 8, 1922 in Excelsior Springs, MO. She is well known in the Northland as an active Republican. She served in Platte County as a Central Committee woman over 20 yrs. She helped open over 15 Republican Headquarters in Platte County through the years and supported every candidate with pride. A true American Spirit. Never met a stranger. Organized many fund raising events for the Republican Party and many charities. She is a charter member of the Platte County Eleemosynary Society and participated in the Parkville Rotary. She volunteered at Bethany Hospital, was PTA president, The Red Hat Babes, the Elvira Fickle girls town, the Parkville Art & Literature Club and many more organizations.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Cooke, and her son Gene Jr. (L.E.). Survivors include son, Thomas Joe Cooke, daughter Joyce Kay Yost, grandchildren, Thomas Scott Cooke, Troy Adam Cooke, Amy Elizabeth Guzenhauser, Amanda Rachael McCarthy, Christopher Martin Cooke and Barbara Kay Milton. Great grandchildren Matthew Kemper, Shelby Kemper, Emma Kemper, Lucy McDaniel, Weston Cooke, Sawyer Cooke, Lino Cooke, Carlos Cooke, Ramsey Cooke, Tristin Cooke, Kevin Cooke, Jenna Vandendaele, Daniel Neugent and T.J. McCarthy. Life celebration party at the Coves Clubhouse, Monday 2/01/2016 at 4pm.
