Barbara Jean Collier, 89, of Lenexa, KS passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016. Barbara was born August 31, 1926, in Kansas City, MO to Matilda and Hoyt Ogilive. She was raised in Kansas City, MO with her four brothers: Norman, Wayne, Donald, and Leon Ogilive. She married George Collier on September 21, 1947. Barbara and George lived in Kansas City where they raised their two children, Deborah and Steven. They were happily married for 66 years.
Barbara was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church and the DAR Chapter in Lee’s Summit, MO. She enjoyed genealogy, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was an avid doll collector as well, and her doll of choice was Holiday Barbie.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, George Collier and son, Steven Collier. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Cleavinger; grandson, Matt Cleavinger (Heather), granddaughter, Kristin Davis (Beau); and great grandchildren Bryn Dietle, Sydney, Molly Grace, Hadley, Laney Cleavinger, and Camden Davis. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, KS, Crossroads Hospice, and Chaplain Justin Main.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with a service following at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road in Kansas City, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
