She was the daughter of Orville and Dollie Stipp, born October 16, 1932 in Neosho, Missouri. She spent her entire childhood there and graduated from Neosho High School in 1950. That same year she made the two most important decisions in her life when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and married her childhood sweetheart, Max Morris. She was the proud mother of Mike, Mark and Robin.
Early in their marriage, Max followed his calling to become a pastor and preach the Gospel. Ava stepped into her role as a pastor’s wife which she performed faithfully and graciously for 48 years until the Lord called Max home in 1998. She later moved to the St. Louis suburb of Ballwin, Missouri where Robin and her family live. Ava had several interests but what gave her the most joy was sharing the Gospel of Jesus with others and telling them her own personal testimony. She also cherished all the friendships she made over the years, especially her Red Bridge Baptist Church family, South Kansas City Baptist Church in Kansas City and Raytown Baptist/Connection Point Church.
She is survived by son, Mike Morris (Linda) of Ozark, MO and daughter Robin Harris (David) of Ballwin, MO. Also surviving are grandchildren Chad Morris, Lauren Morris, Brent Morris, Adam Harris, Shannon Harris Chervitz (Mike), Rachel Harris Gates (Dylan), Emily Harris, along with 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces. nephews and family.
Ava was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband Max, son Mark, granddaughters Sharese Morris and Kaitlin Harris, brother Bill Stipp.
A Visitation for Ava will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
