Albert Stewart passed away November 1, 2013 at his home after a short battle with cancer. Al was born December 20, 1927 in Urbana, MO. Al graduated from Paseo High School and was an Eagle Scout and Sachem in Mic-O-Say. He earned a chemical engineering degree from KU and a Masters in Education and an MBA from UMKC. Al served in the US Army and Army Reserves from 1950 to 1962. During his service he was a Radiation Safety Officer for Operation Upshot/Knothole and witnessed 13 atomic detonations. Al was a chemistry teacher at Van Horn High School from 1958 to 1961. From 1971 to 1977 he worked as a Senior Industrial Hygienist for OSHA before founding his own company Stewart Industrial Hygiene & Safety.
Al is survived by his former wife and dear friend Elizabeth Tice Stewart, daughter Sheryl Foreman (Kelly); son, Mical Stewart (Tami); two grandchildren, Elizabeth Foreman and Eric Foreman (Megan); two great-grandchildren, Jack & Harper.
Visitation will be 10 – 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, KCMO. Family suggests contributions to Wayside Waifs or the BSA’s Heart of America Council.
