Virginia Stimac Sutton was born February 9, 1922 in Strawberry Hill, Kansas City, KS, and was a lifelong area resident of Kansas before moving to Florida six years ago. She worked as the first female Auditor for the Federal Reserve Bank for 34 years, before she retired in 1978. Prior to that, she spent some time working in the Fairfax Bomber Plant, during WWII as a riveter on the B-25 Mitchell. She was a member of, and had been treasurer for, The Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post 188; she was also a member (spouse) of the VFW Strawberry Hill Post 7026, and a member of the 25 Year Club of the Federal Reserve Bank. In her day she loved square-dancing, crossword puzzles and card games of any kind. Virginia was 88 when she passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at her home in Navarre, FL.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Sutton, her only daughter, Pauline Ann Kostelac and her brother Joseph Julius Stimac.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Gregory Kostelac of Navarre, Florida, and Julie Ramsey of Santa Monica, California; her step-son, Delvin Ray Sutton of Gladstone, Missouri; her nieces, Barbara Balot and Patty Stimac; her nephew Harry Stimac; and six great-grandchildren, Lon, Ashley, Jack, Gregory, Henry and Gracie.
Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday February 4th, at Zion United Church of Christ, 2711 N. 72nd Street in Kansas City, KS, with Funeral Services to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Entombment will follow in the Lakeside Mausoleum at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family requests that any contributions be made to the American Legion Post 188.
