Shirley Jean Huckaby

Shirley Jean Huckaby, 87, of Kansas City, KS went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 at Providence Medical Center surrounded by her friends and family. She was born July 27, 1935 in Kansas City, MO, daughter of the late Eva and Norman Curry.

On October 11, 1952, at the age of 19, she married Deryll M. Huckaby. She worked with her husband as the owner operators of Huckaby Ambulance Service in Kansas City, KS. They were married for 39 years.

Shirley loved her family and her sweets! She enjoyed traveling, good meals, talking on the telephone, and spending quality time with her dear friends and family. She will be remembered for her sweet laugh, her kind heart, patience and generosity towards everyone, her beauty inside & out, her cooking, her smile, and her radiant glow.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mark Gunther of Tonganoxie, KS; daughter Bonnie Huckaby of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren: Marcie Huckaby; Brandy (Jason) Hersch; Christy (Garrett) Palmer; Catherine Gunther; and Branden Huckaby; great grandchildren: Kaden and Braxton Palmer; and Luke Hersch.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Eva and Norman Curry, husband Deryll Huckaby, daughter Linda Huckaby, and stepson Bobby Huckaby, all of Kansas City, KS.

A graveside for Shirley will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112.
