Sharon Sue Hamilton

Sharon Sue Hamilton, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 17 at Overland Park Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 701 N 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, Monday, October 21, from 5 to 7 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 22, at 10:30 am at St. Pius Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson Road, Mission, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hamilton; her brother Jim Stackhaus; and her parents, Jim and Helen Stackhaus.

Sharon was born in 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School and attended Donnelly College. A wife, mother, sister and daughter, she and her first husband Fred raised 4 beautiful children.

Sharon was a member of several parishes, starting at St. Peter’s Cathedral, and including St. Pius, in Mission, Kansas. She enjoyed her time volunteering in the church office there. Sharon was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for more than 45 Years. She became a licensed real estate agent. After co owning McBratney Optical Boutique, she moved to Laurie, Missouri, at the Lake of the Ozarks, where she and husband Don lived for more than 15 years. They loved spending evenings on the lake, enjoying the scenery. They were very involved in the American Legion.

Sharon enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She and Don travelled across the US in their retirement years with the Marines Veterans group. In June 2022, Sharon and and her two sisters embarked on a trip of a lifetime to Greece and Turkey. She also enjoyed her cousins at many annual get togethers.

Sharon is survived by her four children Michael (Patricia), Kansas City, Kansas; Ann-Marie Moore, Kansas City, Kansas; Kathleen Huerter (Joseph) Lenexa, Kansas; James (Molly), Merriam, Kansas; sister Linda Miller Sarasota, Florida; brother Charles Stackhaus, Leavenworth, Kansas; and sister, Joan O’Halloran (Rick) Naperville, Illinois. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Shawn, Conner (Erica), Ben, Caroline, Jenna and Laura. She was loved by her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sharon was a beautiful person inside and out and was caring and loving. She was devout in her Catholic faith. Sharon will be greatly missed and was loved by her children and grandchildren.
