Rosealine (Rose) L. Swearingen of Edwardsville, Kansas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 1, 2020. Private Services for Rose will be Thursday, May 7th 2020. Rose was born to Joseph and Alice Reynolds on December 19, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended school though the 8th grade at Timmons Elementary School. Rose accepted Christ as her Savior at a little country church in 1943. On July 22, 1949 she married the love of her life John M. Swearingen and was married 56 years before his passing. Together they had 6 children and was blessed to raise 5 of them to adulthood. John and Rose settled in the Edwardsville area where they built their home which remains in the family today. Rose worked many jobs but found that she loved working in the school cafeterias where she could serve and be around children. She retired from Bonner Springs Unified School District #204 in 1996 after serving for 23 years. Rose was a member of Haven Baptist Church, KCKS. Rose was proceeded in death by her loving husband John M. Swearingen, 1 Daughter Wanda I. Swearingen, 1 son Glen E. Swearingen, her parents Joseph and Alice Reynolds, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by 4 children, Sharon Simmons of Springfield, Mo., John (Debbie) Swearingen of Edwardsville, KS, Juanita Rollins (of the home), and Karen (Les) Drennon of Edwardsville, KS. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Steven Barnes, John Barnes, Tina Smythe, Alice Mumma, John Swearingen III, Howard Rollins II, Katrina Moseman, Bryce Drennon and Maddie Drennon. She also leaves 17 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, 2sisters, 2 brothers and a host of many nieces and nephews. Rose never met a stranger and was loved and respected by all who met her.
