Richard Ware, 96 passed away peacefully on May, 18, 2023 at home.
Richard was born on November 21, 1926 in Junction City, Kansas to George and Blanche Ware. Richard served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1947 during World War II. He the served in the US Navy reserve from 1947 until 1952.
Richard met Mary Jane in Kansas City, Kansas and were married in 1954. The couple enjoyed 58 years of marriage until her death in 2012. Richard worked for the Union Pacific Railroad 45 years until he retired in 1988. Richard and Mary Jane owned a place on Table Rock lake with all the family and enjoyed many summers with their children and grandchildren. Richard loved to fish and teaching the grandchildren how to fish. In the winter Richard and Mary Jane loved to travel and have been all over the world.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents George and Blanche Ware, his wife, Mary Jane Ware, daughter Kathleen Boul and sister, Dorothy Vergez. He is survived by his children, James Ware and his wife Vicki, Sharon Wetterberg and her husband Jim, Kevin Ware and his wife Robin. He is survived by his grandchildren, Brandon, Shaun, Emily, Chad, Eric, Sara and Katie. He was lucky to have been survived by 8 great grandchildren, Makayla, Julie, Christian, Reagan, Adalyn, Benjamin, Elijah, and Zachary. There is one great-great grandchild on the way.
Visitation will be held at 1 pm, with the service following at 2 pm on Thursday, May 25th, 2023 at Chapel Hill Butler Funeral home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. There will be a light meal served following the service. There will be no graveside service.
