Mary Ann Bogard (née Bundy) of Kansas City, KS passed away on May 15, 2024 at age 87 in Merriam, KS. A resident of Kansas City, KS for most of her life, she graduated from Washington High School in 1954 and subsequently helped to organize many class reunions. It was at one of these reunions that she became reacquainted and fell in love with Allen F. Bogard who would become her husband of 38 years.
Prior to that, Mary Ann began her professional career in 1953 behind the soda fountain at Jones Pharmacy. She would go on to work at the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC before returning to Kansas City to practice accounting and raise a family. She was an accountant at several local businesses before retiring from MobileFone after a tenure of over 30 years.
A deeply spiritual woman, she was a member of Welborn Community United Church of Christ for over 70 years, and served as the church’s treasurer for more than three decades.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, in 2012; a son, Kerry Roberts, in 2015; Mother, Helen Bundy in 2008 and Father, Vivian Bundy in 1952. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Higgins of Topeka, KS; daughter Melinda (Steve) Luthye of Shawnee, KS , son William Roberts of Kansas City, MO; two Grandchildren Michael (Shannan) Booth of Lee’s Summit, MO and Jennifer Booth of Lee’s Summit, MO; two great grandchildren Sophie Booth and Avery Booth of Lee’s Summit, MO.
Visitation will be May 21 at 10 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Streaming available.
