She was a charter member of Judson Baptist Church in KCK, where she & Dad raised their children. Mom also taught children’s Sunday School for most of her life. She was also active in the church’s Vacation Bible School during those years. Aside from being a homemaker, Mom was a school cook at Stony Point North Elementary & then later worked in the Dietitian Department at Bethany Medical Center in KCK. She also taught Preschool at First Baptist Church in Basehor KS.
Mom loved watching her “Brits” as she called them, she had a vast collection of British mysteries. Mom loved to decorate her home & it was always beautiful. Her fashion sense was always in style. Mom loved her chocolates, pie, and ice cream and enjoyed every bite.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. Smith and her parents, John Henry & Anna Mae Jordan, her brother & five sisters, and her nephew, John Meggs. Granddaughter Jaclyn Smith, Grandson Caleb Davis & great Grandson Maverick Smith.
She is survived by her children, Debra Granger (Larry) Overland Park KS; Steven Smith (Cathy) Johnstown CO; David Smith Tonganoxie KS; Rodney Smith (Hanna) Overbrook KS.
Six granddaughters; 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Margaret will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM
Serving as pallbearers are Steve Smith, David Smith, Rodney Smith, Larry Granger, Chris Meggs, Scott Meggs and Chris Godfrey.
