Larry Lloyd Weems

Larry L. Weems, 76, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away December 5, 2016 at home. A celebration of his life will held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, December 12th at Park Lanes Family Fun Center, 7701 Renner Rd., Shawnee, KS 66217. Inurnment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens will be done at a later date.

Larry was born October 5, 1940 in Kansas City, KS to Lloyd and Nellie Evelyn Weems. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1958. Larry served in the Navy aboard an air craft carrier in the South Pacific. He worked for 39 ½ years as a switchman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. He volunteered as a youth bowling coach at Ranch West Bowl for 20 years and sponsored go cart racers for 18 years, his driver, Patrick, won four Track Championships at Thunderlake Speedway. Larry was a member of ABC and USBC Bowling Leagues. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Evelyn; and his brother, Ronald Weems.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Mae, of the home; his son, Richard Weems (Teresa) of KCMO; his sister, June Knight of KCK; his grandsons, Chris McDaniel, Marshall Weems and fiancé Samantha; his sister-in-law, Lynette Weems of Spring, TX; his nephews, Adrian & Shawn Knight of Shawnee, KS; his nieces, Abby Reedy of Suwanee, GA, and Bethany Thursh of Tomball, TX; and his princess “Rags” and many other family members and friends.
