Joy Marcus, 54, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away April 30, 2014 at home. A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1st at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 2nd at the funeral home, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Attn: Planned Giving Department, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
Joy was born August 24, 1959 in Fresno, California to Elmer and Ina Marbut. She grew up in KCK and graduated from JC Harmon High School. Joy has worked for Thermal Dynamics, Signature Group, Martin-Dawes Technologies, Skill Path and Block Construction over the years. She has been married to Steven Marcus for 38 years. Joy had a big heart and would knit hats for Project Sweet Pea for premature infants. She also loved to ride motorcycles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, John and Bob Marbut and her sister, Sue Marcus.
Joy leaves her beloved husband, Steve Marcus; her sons, Steven Marcus, Jr. (Dawn), Joshua Marcus (Kim) and Cory Marcus (Taunisha); her brother, Bill Marbut, her sister, Sheila Smith; and her grandchildren, Alyssa, Taylor, Joshua, Jr., Abby, Kailynn, Rachel and Renee.
