Jennifer “Jenny” Lea Sewell of Tonganoxie, Kansas passed away on January 9, 2021. She was 50 years old. There will be a private family service on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Jenny was born on July 10, 1970 in Kansas City, Kansas to Roy and Linda Sewell. She grew up in Wyandotte County and attended Piper High School where she graduated from in 1988. She then continued her education at Pitt State where she completed her two Master Degrees, first in Special Education then in Library Science. During her time at Pitt State, Jenny was in the Tri-Sig Sorority and has always enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends and was the life of the party. After college, Jenny started her teaching career as a Special Education Teacher. She taught for over 27 years in various school districts in the area. Jenny was very active in her latter years, and enjoyed running. She competed in a half-marathon as well the Vegas Marathon. She was very competitive and even won several races in her age group. She was always sure to get her four miles in each day. She had always been very goal-oriented in all aspects of life.
Jenny enjoyed spending her time by the water, whether it be the beach or the pool. She loved her animals, especially dogs and cats. Jenny was very active in her children’s lives and was always attending their extracurricular activities. She was a strong and beautiful woman and she will be deeply missed by many.
Jenny was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Howard D. and Betty J. Roberts; and paternal grandparents, Willie and Phyllis Sewell.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Roy and Linda Sewell; brothers, Thomas Sewell and Marc (Shannon) Sewell; children, Austin Jones and Anna Jones; niece and nephews, Colton, Payne, Lucy, and Liam Sewell; along with many other family members and dear friends.
