Jarol Dean “Jerry” Downey 94, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2024.
Jarol was born July 28, 1929, in Gallatin, Mo to Chester and Mildred Downey. Jarol was a jockey early on and won his first race in Kentucky then went to work for Sunshine Biscuits for 28 years. In between he joined the army fighting for our Country at the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, part of the Korean War.
After retirement Jarol enjoyed being a vendor at Swap & Shop and traveling to Car Races.
Jarol was preceded in death by his parents; Sisters – Ruth Bills and Betty Jean Downey; Brothers - William “Bill” Downey, Jimmie Dale Downey and a stillborn child.Jarol leaves behind his wife Glenda of 62 years, one son Jimmy Downey and wife Christy, one daughter Jarol Vandenberg, 4 grandchildren – Nick, Brooke, Sara and Christian, 3 great grandchildren – Maddox, Lincoln and Londyn.
