Dr. Gary McIntosh, 66, passed away January 20th. His funeral will be 3:00pm, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Chapel Hill – Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK, with visitation time from 1:00-3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Gary was born January 13, 1953 in Lawrence, Kansas to Ora Edward and Mildred Marie McIntosh. He attended the University of Kansas, became an RN at KCKCC, a physician’s assistant at Wichita State, earned his masters at the University of Nebraska School of Medicine, and his PhD from the International University of Health Sciences in Winnipeg, Canada.
Dr. McIntosh served on the Kansas Board of Healing Arts as a President and Chairman of various councils; as well as the Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants as a past President and other roles. He also served on the DOVES – Domestic Abuse Council, the Northeast Kansas Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council, and the American Cancer Society of Doniphan County. Gary worked at the Advanced Correctional Health Care, and worked previously at the Horton Hospital, Atchison Hospital, as well as others. He enjoyed travel, hiking, skiing, and scuba diving. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son, Sean McIntosh and wife Jessica McIntosh of Lawrence, Kansas; his daughter, Erin and Paul Nichols of Georgetown, Texas; his three grandchildren, Jameson Nichols, Mason and Skylar McIntosh; his sister, LuAnn Hargis; his close friends, Dalene and Randy Smith of Everest, Kansas; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
