Elaine B. Thomas

Elaine B. Thomas, 59, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4th, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, with interment following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 3rd at the funeral home.

Elaine was born February 9, 1952 in Kansas City, Kansas, and had lived in the Kansas City area most of her life, graduating from Oak Park High School in 1970. She was a bookkeeper, working for Cates Sheet Metal, K. C. Coatings, Ericson, J. C. Penney, for whom she worked for over 20 years, and also Allied Security in Spokane, Washington for 7 years. Elaine loved doing needlepoint and was a member and Past President of several Needle Working Guilds. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, playing soccer, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, and 1 infant sister.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Thomas of the home; her parents, Harold and Hazel Couture of Kansas City North; 2 sons, Brent Thomas and his wife Diana of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Andrew Thomas and his significant other, Amy Bickford of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Brandy Rottinghaus and her husband Brian of Olathe, Kansas; 3 brothers, Jonathan Couture and his wife Margaret of Pelion, South Carolina, Daniel Couture of Olathe, Kansas, and Calvin Dean Couture of Edwards, Missouri; 2 sisters, Karen Aitken and her husband Clarence of Smithville, Missouri, Cheryl Linard of Platte City, Missouri, and Cathy Bayliss and her husband Lauren of Kingston, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren, Jared, Cody, Brooke, Hayley, Brynna, Elena, Brett and Jenna; and her beloved canine companion, Molly.
