We regret to announce the passing of Ebbie Carmack, 76, of Basehor, Kansas on August 3, 2023 at his home. He was battling terminal cancer and is finally at rest. Ebbie was born on July 13, 1947 to Essie Ophelia Carmack in Deer, Arkansas. On August 10, 1968, he married Helen Katherine “Kathy” Jackson from Kansas City, Kansas. Together they had two daughters, Julia Katherine and Judie Denise.
After retiring from owning his own trucking business, you could catch Ebbie tending to his vegetable garden, riding on one of his motorcycles, or just tinkering up in his garage. He absolutely loved going on hunting trips with his family and friends. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Abate of Kansas. Ebbie had a rough exterior but he had the biggest soft spot for his grandchildren. Being a grandpa and a great-grandpa was one of his greatest fulfillments.
Ebbie is survived by his wife, Kathy, daughters Julia Carmack (Gary) and Judie McDonnell, grandchildren Katie (Chelsea) Krall, Jesse (Eva) Gunn, Jeremy (Alexis) McDonnell, and Jenna McDonnell, and great-grandchildren Clayton, Aariana, and Elliott, his sisters Daisy (Stanley “Jo Buck”) and Lassie, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Ebbie is preceded in death by his mother, Essie, his brother Addis “Dobie” Carmack, three of his beloved dogs Missie, Buster, and Peanut.
Visitation for Ebbie will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 6:00- 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home.
