DONALD C. FLEMING 1919 - 2017 Donald C. Fleming, 98, passed away August 17, 2017. He was born in Chillicothe, Illinois to Pauline Alta and Clarence William Fleming. Both preceded him in death. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Donald married JoAnn M. Fleming December 27, 1947. Two sons were born from this marriage. Mark Richard Fleming and Michael Christian Fleming. Donald was educated in Sparland, Illinois, then attended Alexian Brothers School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse. He entered the service of the United States, in the Air Force, during World War II as a bombardier flying 32 successful missions. For his heroic efforts on one of these missions, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross medal. Upon completion of service, he attended St. Louis University and Fort Hays State College. After graduation, he was employed by The Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company; retiring after 31 years in June of 1980. He and his wife retired to the Ozarks. He was active in the Lions Club and SCOREs. At the time of his death he was residing in Overland Park, KS. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Fleming; two sons, Mark Fleming and his wife Joyce; and Mike Fleming and his wife Debra; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
