Daniel E. Wiehe passed away peacefully June 22nd, 2012 in Greenville, SC. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., KCK. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 14700 Leavenworth Rd., Basehor, KS 66007 or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Dan was born June 13th, 1952 to Norman F. and Doris E. (Merwin) Wiehe in Leavenworth, KS. He was a 1970 graduate of Piper HS. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, MO Synod, Piper, KS and recently joined St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Simpsonville, SC. Dan worked for 35 years in Engineering at Fluor, Inc. on the construction of power plants in Missouri, Florida, New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Indonesia, South Carolina, Ohio and Kentucky. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends, family, and especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Cindy Tice and Diane McDonnell. Survivors include his wife of over 39 years Debra (Miller) Wiehe of the home; two daughters, Stephanie (Domenick) DeCaro of Overland Park, KS, Shannon (Scott) Sherwood of Harrisburg, NC; a son, Nathaniel Wiehe, of Arlington, VA; five grandchildren; two sisters, Terry Gordon and April Ruzsa; three brothers, Randy, Stanley, and Mark Wiehe; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
