Dale “Sonny” Brockman, Jr., 72, of Kansas City, KS, passed away December 25, 2018. A visitation will be from 10:30-11:30, with funeral services at 11:30am, Wed., Jan. 2, 2018 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Interment with Honors will be 1:30pm, Wed., Jan. 2nd at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS 66048. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, or the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Fund: Agent Orange Program.
Dale was born October 3, 1946 in Kansas City, KS to Josephine and Dale E. Brockman, Sr. He graduated from Bishop Ward High School and entered the Navy, where he served from 1965-1969 in Vietnam as a SeaBee. Dale earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal during his service. After the service, he began working as a machinist for Phillips Petroleum in Fairfax and then was transferred to Fritch, Texas in the late 70s after they closed their local plant. Dale worked for Phillips Petroleum for over 40 years. He moved back to the Kansas City area in early 2018. Dale enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and taking walks in the woods. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dale is survived by his siblings, Diane Carpenter (Gary) of KCK, Pat Bender (Tom) of Basehor, and Joe Brockman (Judy) of Edwardsville; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
