On Friday, April 7, 2023, Robert ‘Bob’ James Cail, peacefully passed away at the age of 83. Bob was born in North Kamloops and remained a Kamloops resident his entire life span except for a few years in Lac De Roche. He worked for the City of Kamloops through various departments including parks and recreation and ended his career shortly after helping update the Kamloops water systems, retiring at age 54. During his formative years, he met and married the love of his life Julia and together they raised six children.
Bob had a passion for family, hunting, fishing, and hockey. He was able to provide for his family with his hunting ability, and proudly passed down this passion to his sons and grandsons. Fly fishing became a hobby, and he spent a lot of time tying his own flies and testing them out on local lakes and rivers. Despite his loyalty to his favourite hockey team, he never was able to see them win the Stanley cup again (last win 1966/67). Bob was friendly, charismatic, and was always willing to tell a good story. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smirk, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Robert was predeceased by his wife Julia, and great-grandson Braiden. He is survived by his children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren, as well as his brother Melvin, nieces, and many cousins.
Bob has requested no service, but his remains will be interred at Kamloops Cemetery.
His family would like to thank the compassionate care and support from Marjorie Willoughy Snowden Hospice, the Hamlets care team, and his home health nurses.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.schoeningfuneralservice.com for the Cail family.
