side. Maria was born to Nicolino and Saveria Giancotti in Albi, Catanzaro, Italy on Oct 20, 1935. She moved to Canada in 1966 and married her love, Antonio in 1967. Maria got her Canadian Citizenship in 1976 and although her home country of Italy was always in her heart, she was so proud to become a Canadian.
Maria is already deeply missed by her surviving family, including her husband, Antonio “Tony” Corea and by her two boys, Dave (Sonja) Corea and Paul (Pina) Corea, her sisters Caterina and Carmela and the loves of her life her grandchildren, Anthony, Nicola, Alesandro, Adriana and Lucas.
Maria was a fantastic cook and baker. People that have eaten her food often commented how delicious it was and that she should open a restaurant. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, entertaining and hosting their many special occasions. She had the biggest heart and loved a good laugh.
Maria was most proud of her family, they were the most important thing in her life and she leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories of her husband, children and grandchildren. Her family was extremely lucky to have had her as a wife, a mother and a Nonna. She spent her life caring for her family and making them a beautiful home and life. She will never be forgotten and our family will never be the same without her.
Prayers for Maria will be at OLPH church on Thursday, Dec 21 at 5:00pm. Funeral will be at OLPH church on Friday, Dec 22 at 11:00am, entombment to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Donations in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation may be given in lieu of flowers.
