It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Wallbridge Scott on the
evening of September 1, 2020, after a long battle with cancer.
Ken was born on June 30, 1951, in Nokomis, Saskatchewan and was the fifth child of nine
children. He helped on the farm from an early age. As the oldest son at home when his Dad was
ready to retire, Ken began farming full time after graduating from high school in Nokomis. He
and his youngest brother Gerald (Joe) ran a joint farming operation together for a time. He
married his first wife, Mary Rink and they had three sons together, Tyler, Jarret and Daniel
during his earlier farming years. Ken served as a counsellor for the Rural Municipality of Wreford
and was a member of the Kinsmen Club in Nokomis. When Ken left farming, he moved to
Kamloops where he worked for the department of highways. This is where he met Jim Koester
who became a life-long friend. He later took a position with the BC Department of Agriculture,
where he worked until retirement in 2016. It was in Kamloops where he met his partner, Elaine
Byrne. They shared 27 years together making memories, going on adventures and especially
enjoyed camping with their 2 best pals Chloe and CJ. Ken was also an avid hunter and ice
fisher and enjoyed riding his motorcycle in his younger years.
Ken is remembered as a caring person with a cheeky sense of humor and a strong sense of
family. Pops cherished the times he was able to spend with his grandchildren and held dear
memories of their camping trips.
He was predeceased by both his parents, Gladys and Reg Scott of Hatfield and one brother,
Bob Scott of Saskatoon. He leaves to mourn his partner, Elaine Byrne, sons Tyler (Sarah);
Jarret (Dana), grandsons Connor and Brett; Daniel (Sarah), grandson Albert; stepdaughters
Ashley, Kara, and Kelly (Paul); four sisters Lynn Bayne (Garth), Shanne Moffatt (Dennis), Pat
Desfosses, Kathryn Hodgins (Lindon); three brothers Richard, Doug (Julie), and Gerald
(Sharon); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A service will be held next June in Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, Ken has requested donations to The Canadian Cancer Society to help create
a future without prostate cancer.
