Kaisa Rachele Wiens passed away unexpectedly on October 11, 2024, in Lofoton, Norway.
Born on August 13, 2002 in Fort St John, BC to parents Kevin and Michele Wiens and big sister Talia, Kaisa lived in Calgary and Kamloops before moving to Nanaimo for university.
Kaisa packed a lot of living into her 22 years. She loved defying expectations, whether taking up wrestling in jr high, running races through Calgary winters, getting her motorbike license in high school, or completing a 50 km trail race to cap off her storied running career.
She came into her own during university, majoring in Tourism Management and finding friends who loved adventure as much as she did. Her summer jobs had her guiding a high ropes course, working with a whitewater rafting company, and cave guiding. She loved exploring and climbing and was happiest in nature, especially in the mountains.
Kaisa travelled to a dozen countries, including mission trips to Haiti and Guatemala, visits to Germany and India, and educational exchanges to Belgium, Quebec and Norway. Norway was to be her last adventure, as she passed away in a hiking accident. We now envision her exploring the mountains in Heaven (and hugging all the animals).
Kaisa had a huge impact wherever she went. She loved and was loved by so many. We will especially miss her smile, her hugs and her big heart.
A celebration of Kaisa’s amazing life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Southwest Community Church, 700 Hugh Allan Drive, Kamloops. The service will also be livestreamed for friends around the world. www.swcc.ca/live

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes
from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1-2)
