Passed away peacefully in Kamloops, BC on December 22, 2023.
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our dear husband, loving Papa and joyful Nonno at the age of 77.
Frank is survived by his devoted and loving wife Mena of 51 years, his children Frank (Julie), Linda (James), Sandra (Will); grandchildren Liam and Livy (‘Birichina’), Alex, Miranda and Zack and great-grandchildren Bennett and Olive.
Frank is also survived by his sisters Rosetta Luca, Rita (Francesco) Garfalo, brother Tony (Stella) Alpino and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Venera Alpino and brother-in-law, Silvio Luca.
Frank travelled to Kamloops, BC for the first time in 1966 as a young bachelor to live with his older sister Rosetta and family. He worked in construction as a carpenter and enjoyed playing soccer with his friends. Frank travelled back to Italy once more where he met his soon to be wife and then engaged to Filomena Golemme. He returned back to Canada for two years and kept in touch with Mena writing letters to one another.
Frank returned to Italy and married Mena on March 12, 1972. They finally immigrated to Canada together to build their life and family and made Kamloops their final residence.
After continued work as a skilled carpenter, and a cement mason, Frank started working at BC Lottery Corporation in 1985 for 17 years.
Anyone that knew our father was blessed with his caring and giving ways. He was a man of many talents with a strong and proud spirit.
Frank’s passions throughout his life were always on family, friends, helping others, wine making, tending to his garden and devoting his heart and soul honestly to the end. Frank had endless energy that awed us all with his hard grit, meticulous and creative craftsmanship. He had a natural talent with building his visions on various projects in and around his home adding his own personal touch! Nicknamed ‘Golden Hands’ his friends, family and the community could count on Frank to willingly fix and build anything broken!
Frank’s greatest joys were spending time outdoors, RVing to his favourite hot springs in the Kootenays, fishing, camping, mushroom picking and bike riding. Frank enjoyed playing and watching soccer games for hours, especially his grandson Liam. He was an active and helpful member of the Italian Colombo Lodge and had a child-like nature interacting with his grandchildren. Frank was known for keeping his possessions very organized and cemented driveway extremely clean!
Frank’s ultimate gift was the art of making wine, cultivating his garden and sharing the fruits of his labour. His stunning and inviting backyard with its gorgeous city views brought loved ones together and created many special memories. Frank was an amazing man and will always be remembered. His generosity and kindness will live with us forever.
