It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bruno Covaceuszach, he passed away on July 26th, 2024. Bruno is survived by his sister Paola Simoncig of Stregna, Italy. He will be forever remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Mario Simoncig, sister-in-law Ivanka Covaceuszach, brothers Gino, Elio, Mario and Danilo, as well as parents Guiseppe and Maria Covaceuszach.
Bruno was born in Berda di Prepotto in Udine, Italy, on July 26th, 1930. Bruno immigrated to Canada on November 26, 1953. He decided to come to Canada to join his brothers who had already immigrated. During his time in Canada, he worked in numerous jobs in the lumber industry and belonged to the Steel Workers Union. Bruno had a strong love for the outdoors. He would often spend his free time fishing and hunting with brothers. Bruno was an excellent cook and made amazing gnocchi. He loved to make his own homemade wine and sausages. His passion for cooking started at an early age as he was often responsible for cooking family meals when he was growing up in Italy.
Bruno was a very kind man and gentle man. He made friends easily and enjoyed playing cards and bocci and going out for coffee with his friends at North Hills Mall. Bruno had many talents and loved to help others. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers helping them pick fruit and tend to their large gardens. Bruno was an active member of the Colombo Lodge and belonged to the set-up and take-down crew for the various functions held at the lodge. He was very proud of his Italian heritage.
Bruno will be missed dearly but his infectious smile will be remembered by all who had the privilege to meet him.
Father Thomas will celebrate the Funeral Mass on Friday August 2, 2024 at 11 am in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
