It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ann Emma Davies. Although she is gone from us we are consoled by that fact that she is with her true love, Gordon. “Together again…”
Mom is survived by her son, Gordon Dale Davies (Patti) and her daughter, Shana May Beecroft (Rick), her grandsons, Greg Davies (Andreanne), Corey Davies (Melissa),her granddaughters Madison Omelchuk (Jason), Emma Loring (Cole), and her grandsons Jesse Beecroft and Tye Beecroft. She was known as GG to her great grand kids, Jude Davies, Theo Davies, Kace Omelchuk and Tessa Omelchuk.
Mom was born in Lethbridge Alberta of immigrant parents from Hungary and had a brother, John and two sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret. Her best friend was Julie Hamilton who she knew since she was 5 years old and has often said that she doesn’t ever remember a time without her. (She was recently planning a trip to Calgary to visit her.) Mom was hanging out at a corner store in Lethbridge with Julie when she realized that a boy would often show up at the same time. Although mom pretended she wasn’t interested…eventually this young man stole her heart and she was married at the young age of 16. They were inseparable and their love was not only for each other, but also for the strong family bond that we had.
Those of you who were lucky enough to know her were recipients of all her talents, of which she had many, from her paintings, to her crafts, which included teddy bears and beautiful handmade cards to her homemade baking. Mom could often be found in the kitchen baking bread, or cookies. Her Hungarian upbringing showed up in her baking (Lekvar cookies, harotsa, walnut and poppyseed rolls) and her famous stuffing at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Every holiday would not be complete without mom at the stove making gravy. Although we tried, no one could make gravy like she could! Her upbringing brought her strength, love and of course, mom’s great sense of humour, which even the nurses commented on. Mom was not afraid to speak her mind which often brought laughter and we will be forever be sharing memories of mom’s wise and thoughtful comments.
Thank you to the wonderful and kind Nurses, Care Aides, Doctors and staff at 5S. You made such a difficult time so peaceful.
We love you mom and now you and dad can continue on with your journey.
“Together again…”
