William “Bill” Joseph Burke passed peacefully, August 21, 2013, at his home in Jupiter, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Laura Burke, daughters, Leslie Burke, Sabrina Brooks, Andrea Burke, and Samantha Burke. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Gabrielle Catanese, Christian Catanese and Austin Brooks, as well as his brother, Michael Burke and sister, Jean Matthews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Harriett Burke of St. Louis, Missouri and his brother, Father Jack Burke of O’Fallon, Missouri. Bill retired from a long career with Heritage Bag Company of Houston, Texas in 2001. He was a proud Navy Korean War Veteran. Bill coached youth basketball for JTAA and led his boys to win the championship in 2011. He also volunteered at All Saints Catholic School and was the unofficial “go-to” guy for the Junior League of the Palm Beaches Headquarters Office. Bill loved his family, his Siberian Husky-Yoda, NFL football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, golf and the Mustang convertible he got for his 76th birthday. He was a connoisseur grill- master for many family events. But above all else he received tremendous joy from being an active grandfather. He was loving, generous and supportive to so many. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. The family would like to extend a thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff of the West Palm Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center for the loving care they provided. The memorial service will be held at Aycock- Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL on August 26th at 11 AM. A private inurnment service will be held at a later date at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
