Born in Northampton, MA. December 1, 1932, she was the daughter of Minnie and Alfred Porter. She is survived by her children Suzie Flournoy and her husband Phil of Jupiter, FL. and Gareth Williams and his wife, Ana of Los Angeles, CA.
For many years, Verna’s passion in life was playing Bingo, frequenting the Seminole Classic Casino as often as possible. She would take the bus down to Hollywood, FL. Playing Bingo on the ride down, at the casino and then again on the return home. She lived for 15 blissful years in her “little cottage” built by and behind Suzie and Phil’s home. In 2004, Verna adopted her precious Doberman/Shepherd mix Pogo. By 2012 it became apparent that she could no longer live on her own and was brought kicking and screaming to Courtyard Gardens ALF. In no time, she grew to adore her new home and all its various amenities and activities, not the least of which, Bingo, 3 times a week!
Verna passed away peacefully at The Hospice of Jupiter Pavilion with both her beloved children nearby. According to Verna’s wishes there will be no service and that everyone remember her in their hearts. We can only hope they have Bingo in heaven.
Arrangements under the direction of Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, Jupiter, FL.
